The Straw Bale Cabin is a “test centre” for sustainable building. We are examining moisture content, thermal performance, energy assessment and public attitudes on an ongoing basis. If you are interested in the progress of this research or have questions of your own that could be investigated here, please contact us.
Courses in straw bale construction will be run from 7th May 2008 and courses in lime and clay plastering will be run from July 2008. Please contact us for further details.

The Straw Bale Cabin is taking part in a Green Pilot Scheme being run by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to look at sustainable design and construction from environmentally friendly materials.
Carol is studying sustainable building with the University of East London at The Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. Her thesis will look at the thermal performance and other aspects of the Straw Bale Cabin.
